Originally written in 2014:
I had originally written a poem about sleep and dreams, and then there was an assignment for a class where we had to write a poem and put it to rhythm, so out of my laziness, I rehashed this poem, but I took out the love parts. Working on it again made me think about it more and inspired me to finish it. I don't remember when I turned it into a song, but I do remember the inspiration for the music: Brahms' Lullaby and Pachelbel's Canon.
I'm somewhat sorry for writing a long song about sleep, but it is exactly what it tried to be.
lyrics
As you close your eyes,
The numbing of sleep closes in
The troubles of the day will fall off
Lie in comfort on a cloud
The world no longer constrains you
Inhibitions now gone
Make your way into the dreamworld
Among the Gods in etherium
...The heavy chains of gravity
Your body can't normally break free from
But while you're not in reality
You are now released into freedom
You can fly among the stars
Now no distance is far
In our dreamworld
Our hearts will meet
Let yourself melt in the ether
Break free from restless hours
Finally we'll be together
The real world cannot separate us
Worldly worries no longer ours
We create realms in our thoughts
All I wait for is a smile
Eradicate the sadness in your mind
All the hopes you hoped to reach
And all the dreams you dared to dream
We will reach them together
Now in our paradise
Let yourself melt in the ether
Break free from restless hours
Finally we'll be together
The real world cannot separate us
As the dreams come to an end
The world fades back into your sight
You may feel as though it was meaningless
Hours of freedom all gone
Over time you'll see that's not true
However unreal it felt
Ether still exists in your mind
Never leave your memories behind
Ether still exists in your heart
Never leave your memories behind
Never leave this memory behind
